World’s First! Elias Schwärzler rides a mountain bike on top of a hot air ballon
Elias Schwärzler becomes the first person ever to ride a mountain bike on top of a flying hot air balloon at an altitude of 950 meters, before launching into freefall, performing two front flips and landing safely under parachute. During sunrise today, near Shumen (Bulgaria), Elias Schwärzler made history and sets this new world’s first.
The stunt combines three disciplines in one continuous sequence for the very first time: mountain biking, hot air ballooning and BASE jumping. The result is a spectacular WORLD’S FIRST that redefines what is possible in action sports. Elias Schwärzler and his team have been working on this project for two years. From securing the bike to the balloon to precisely calculating the jump height and rotation, right through to a safe parachute landing, every detail was planned over the course of several months.
In 2022, the Austrian freeride and stunt rider already set an official Guinness World Record. Schwärzler reached 272 km/h on a standard bicycle (SCOTT Gambler), becoming the fastest person in the world on a bicycle.
