Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB

  • Anna Tarasova and Andrzej Witek were the first athletes in the 73K to reach the  finish line in Puerto de la Cruz.
  • In the 47K race, Inés Astrain and Marcin Kubica were victorious. 
  • Toni McCann and Alex García have won the 24K category. 
  • More than fifty people with disabilities took part in the Bluetrail Challenge. 

Santa Cruz de Tenerife (29 March 2025) – Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® has its winners. For three days, all the excitement of trail running was experienced on the magical island of  Tenerife.

In the main category, the Tenerife Bluetrail 110 km, the victory went to Tom Evans, who  covered the distance between Los Cristianos beach and the finish line in Puerto de la Cruz in  12:32:20. ‘I am very lucky to be here. It’s a fascinating course. I started off very controlled and  then the altitude came into play. Coming home like this is going to be unforgettable,’ said the  English runner.

Second place went to Canary Islander Manuel Alexis Martín (13:18:36), while third place  went to Canadian Jean-François Cauchon, with a time of 13:35:41.

In the women’s category, the victory went to the Swiss-based Catalan Estel Roig, who  completed the course in a time of 15 hours, 16 minutes and 38 seconds. ‘I don’t even know  what to say. I didn’t expect this result’, said one of the surprises of the race.

The second classified, Linda Boldane, finished in a time of 15:58:20, while the third to cross  the finish line was Mélanie Delasoie, with a time of 16:30:08.

Polish Andrzej Witek was the winner of this race, which started at 06:00 hours from the town  of Vilaflor, with a time of 05:55:36. ‘Vilaflor is my second home because I have spent the last  three months here. I am very happy to have won this race. Today was a good day for me’, said  the Polish runner.

In second place came the first winner in the history of the Tenerife Bluetrail, Miguel Heras,  with a time of 06:14:17. ‘It has been fourteen years. I’m happy to be healthy. I have not been  able to run any more. Congratulations to the organisation and many thanks to the people of  the Canary Islands’, said the runner from Béjar.

Third place went to Frenchman Baptiste Petitjean with a time of 06:16:24. ‘It was incredible.  I did the best race I could do today. The time was perfect’.

In the women’s category, Anna Tarasova is the new women’s champion, beating the other runners with a time of 06:57:44. ‘It’s my best result. It was very hot, but the scenery up there  is beautiful. The route is beautiful, so it’s easier to run, you don’t feel so tired. And the course  was very well marked‘. Zimbabwe’s Emily Hawgood crossed the finish line in second place  with a time of 07:23:47, while the third place finisher was Beatriz Parrón, who clocked  07:49:55.

Poland was also represented on the top of the podium in the 50K category with Marcin Kubica winning the Tenerife Bluetrail 47K with a time of 03:49:17. ‘It is the best result of my career.  I have been training for a month here, which was very important because we don’t have this  terrain in Poland’, said the athlete.

In second place was Yoel de Paz from the Canary Islands with a time of 03:50:41, followed by Pablo Bautista (03:51:23). ‘It was really hard, but it’s spectacular. I’m sure I’ll be back’,  promised the Spaniard.
47K Relay 

The couple formed by Andrés Morales and Antonio José Poleo won the men’s category of  the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® after covering the 47 kilometres of the race (22.5 kilometres  + 24.5 kilometres) in a time of 05:22:25. In the women’s category the winners were Zebbie Johanna María Gruijters and Aroa Lorenzo García, crossing the finish line in 06:52:59.

Toni McCann and Alex García, the fastest runners at the Tenerife Bluetrail 24K 

With a time of 01:54:26, Alex García reached the finish line in Puerto de la Cruz shortly before 20:00. ‘It was a very fast and beautiful race. This semi-night format has given it its touch and I’m very happy to start the season by winning in Tenerife. It couldn’t have been a better start. I’ve been on the island for two weeks and I invite everyone to come here because it’s a real  paradise’, said the recent winner of the Tenerife Bluetrail 24K. After him came Adrian Ivars,  with a time of 01:57:33, and Kamil Lesniak (01:57:54).

In the women’s category, South African Toni Mccann, winner of the OCC in 2023 and of the  CCC in 2024, climbed to the top of the podium with a time of 02:08:49, followed by María  Fuentes (02:10:36) and Katarzyna Solinska (02:13:59), second and third, respectively.

Inclusion is one of the fundamental values of Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®️, which is why this 2025 has offered two types of races so that everyone can take part in the experience. The Joëlettes is a race designed for athletes who require technical assistance, and the Challenge,  in which around thirty athletes took part, divided into three circuits of 8, 5 and 1 kilometres.

In addition, the 5-kilometre Family Race and the Peque Race were held, with twenty  participants respectively.

The fourteenth edition of the Tenerife race, organised by the Cabildo through the public  company Ideco, was attended by 3,200 runners from 65 countries who competed in some of  the 10 different categories.

The prize-giving ceremony, held on Saturday afternoon, was attended by the vice-president  of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso; the island councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné; the island  councillors José Carlos Acha, Águeda Fumero and Manuel Fernández; the mayor of Puerto de  la Cruz, Leopoldo Afonso; the managing director of Ideco, Manolo Gómez, as well as  representatives of the companies sponsoring and collaborating in the event.
