Justus Strelow (GER) wins the third M4Energy City Biathlon in Dresden (GER)
The M4Energy City Biathlon Dresden celebrated its third edition yesterday, turning Dresden into a stage for international biathlon. Around 4,050 spectators gathered at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion to watch a high-class field featuring Olympic champions, world champions and World Cup athletes. In addition to the two main races, the programme included the Sparkassen Youngster Team Challenge, a para-biathlon race and numerous other activities.
The races also delivered plenty of excitement and thrilling decisions. In the men’s race, local favourite Justus Strelow claimed his first victory at the City Biathlon Dresden. After a clean final shooting, he held off France’s Éric Perrot and Italy’s Lukas Hofer on the final lap to win by three seconds. In the women’s race, Czech biathlete Tereza Vobornikova triumphed after four flawless shooting stages, finishing 12.2 seconds ahead of Anna Gandler (AUT). Last year’s winner, Lisa Vittozzi (ITA), took third place.
