Elite Preview
One of the 2023 podium stars from the E51 – Panorama Trail (50K) race returns to the Swiss Alps, this time stepping it up to the queen E101 – Ultra Trail (100K).
Third-placed Andreas Reiterer (ITA) is looking forward to returning to Eiger Ultra-Trail by UTMB and is considered one of the favourites in the longer distance.
Reiterer said, “The race is beautiful and very challenging. The scenery around Grindelwald is stunning and it is one of the best races I have ever done!”
“This year, I will take on the 100K race and preparation has been going well. I like this distance and feel it is always special to run 100K. I am looking forward to being on the start line and ready to give it my all. My goal is to finish the race with good feeling and hopefully in a good position.”
An epic battle is expected in the women elite race, with Hannah Osowski (USA), Sandra Sevillano Guerra (ESP) and Emilie Collomb (ITA) expected to be the protagonists applying pressure at the front of the race as they cover 6,970m of ascent.
In the E51 – Panorama Trail, all eyes are on Sophia Laukli (USA) and Ricardo Cherta (ESP), while in the E35 – North Face Trail (50K), Robbie Simpson (GBR) and Camilla Magliano (ITA) are expected to dominate and set a fast and furious pace.
Alongside earning Running Stones – which count as an entry into the lottery to participate in the 2025 UTMB World Series Finals – all finishers will also receive a unique medal made of limestone collected from the mountain and hand-prepared by a local mountain guide.
