Gletscher Trailrun 2026: 1,100 Runners from 34 Nations Take on Gurgl

July 16-19, the Gletscher Trailrun in Gurgl took runners to new heights, following technically demanding trails at altitudes between 2,000 and 3,000 meters. With 1,100 athletes, the 9th edition of the running event in the Diamond of the Alps sold out faster than ever before. Well-known names from the scene, local heroes and hundreds of trail running enthusiasts tackled the challenging course with its spectacular panorama. Benedikt Ritter (GER) and Edith Zell (AUT) claimed victory in the flagship 62-kilometer race.

The Gletscher Trailrun 2026 is clear proof that the trend toward mountain running shows no signs of slowing down: all main distances (14K, 26K, 42K and 62K) on Saturday were sold out completely. 1,100 runners from 34 nations in total, including athletes who traveled from as far as Colombia, South Africa and Mexico, turned Gurgl into a community hub.

In the flagship discipline, the demanding 62K Gletscher Trail with 3,600 meters of elevation gain, Benedikt Ritter (GER) took the win among the men, while Längenfeld local Edith Zell claimed victory among the women.

The exceptionally high level at the Gletscher Trailrun was evident in the strong field of participants. With well-known names like Andreas Schindler (GER) and German ski mountaineer Finn Hösch on the start list, top athletic performances on the trails were guaranteed.
