Reigning World Champions Cozzolino (ITA) & Whyte (USA) kick off season with first victories

 

In the men’s competitionreigning Kite-Surf World Champion Airton Cozzolino (ITA) picked up where he left off, dominating the final with big scores including a 9.10 and a 8.53. Cozzolino was in the final with his friend and mentor Mitu Monteiro (CPV), both riding epic waves. Monteiro couldn’t match his opponent’s high scores and finished second. Brazilians Pedro Matos and Gabriel Benetton battled it out for the third podium spot with only 0.07 points separating the twoMatos took the slight lead with his 8.30 wave score to secure third place.

In the women’s competitionreigning Kite-Surf World Champion Moona Whyte from USA dominated the final and took the win with two perfect 10-point rides in ideal conditions. She faced Capucine Delannoy (ITA) in the final, with both athletes going wave for wave and earning good scores. In the final set of waves, Whyte executed perfect rides to secure first place, while Delannoy had to settle for second. The mini-final between Charlotte Carpentier (FRA) and Camille Losserand (SUI) was extremely close, with both athletes closely matched on the scoreboard. Losserand’s final wave put her ahead by a fraction of a point to take third place on the podium.
